I tried downloading the SOFTPERFECT NETWORK SCANNER.

My antivirus detected Torjan (Artemis!1B79BE1A0C64) & deleted the file.

Can you provide the clean program.

No we cannot, because it's clean already (regardless of what your antivirus is saying).

Avira is also detecting a virus in netscan 4.4.7

Here's the log
The file 'C:\netscan.exe'
contained a virus or unwanted program 'TR/Refroso.bkau' [trojan]

My Avira also reported this, but it also detected it in the system restore folders so it's been on the computer for awhile.

I deleted the files from quarantine and installed the latest version (7/17) of Net Scan. I scanned the file with Avira and it no longer thinks it's a trojan.

I've seen it happen before that a harmless file has a signature identical to a trojan. Apparently when Net Scan was recompiled the sequence of bits changed enough so this signature no longer appears.

It's a good thing, too, because Refroso is a dangerous trojan and I wouldn't want Net Scan to mask it. It's too good a program to suffer this kind of confusion.

I hope this helps.

There is no trojan in NetScan and has never been.

Sometimes a Trojan signature (as appears in antivirus databases) matches the NetScan code, which triggers false alarms.

Nevertheless, it is malware free and this situation is called a false positive. Should this happen again, please send NetScan to your antivirus support team and ask them to reanalyse it as it likely to be mistaken.
