I have this problem too.

Uninstalled a previous version of RAM Disk but still have an empty drive R: (ram1) left over.

Can't install a later version (currently 3.4.2) as it says I have to uninstall first. Can't install previous version as I don't have the source.

Have checked registry and don't have the "vvramd" entry shown in http://www.softperfect.com/board/read.php?16,13658 so am stuck.

How do I get rid of drive R ?

Thx
VD

Try these steps.
1. Remove the following registry keys:
  • HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\vvramd
  • HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SPVDPort
  • HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SPVVEngine
2. Remove the following files in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers directory:
  • spvdbus.sys
  • spvve.sys
3. Delete entire installation directory (usually in C:\Program Files\SoftPerfect RAM Disk)
4. Reboot.

Hi VD,

In the meantime I found an older source of RAM Disk (3.4), downloaded, reinstalled, unmounted drive R (had to force it). Then conventional uninstall and reboot. This removed all the entries you listed above and drive R is gone.
This on Win XP SP3.

Thanks for your help.

did you have it listed as a removable drive; if so change the removable drive option. then you can remove it.
