Changing the size of persistent RAM disk   24 May 2014, 05:19

I have created a 6GB persistent RAM disk on which I've installed my programs. Can I increase the size of this persistent disk to 7GB without losing the programs I've already installed?

Unfortunately the image file cannot be resized. So you could do something like this:

  1. Unmount your RAM disk to close the image file.
  2. Create a new 7 GB image file and mount it to a drive letter.
  3. Mount the old image file to another drive letter.
  4. Copy all your files from the old image to the new one.
  5. Unmount both these images.
  6. Change the image file for the RAM disk and mount it with the newly created image.
  7. If everything went well, delete the old image file.
