Hello,
I take care of school network.
I use Network Scanner a lot for checking out who is logged where at our school.
We have Samba 3.6 domain, XP Pro and Win7 Pro workstations

For all of XP workstations, I can see who is logged there, but Win7 workstations wont show logged-on user, except the one I am sitting behind?

That's probably tighter security settings in effect on Windows 7 by default, which prevent the network scanner from getting them.

I guess so, but I was not able to find out what should I change in Win7 workstations' config to let the scanner find out logged-on user.
I even tried turning firewall for a while; checked that all WMI services are running; RPC services are running too; tried using admin, domain admin, current user account to scan; still no joy.

!!! I have got IT

Now it is working. In case someone wants to know:

1. Service "RemoteRegistry" must be working (set it to Autostart - it is not by default)
2. Add some domain account to Administrators group on Win7 workstations
3. Use this domain account in Network Scanner for Authenticate

Thank you for this. I have been looking for the same answer and found this board. I know this is 2 years old but it helped me today.
