Possible DoS port lock after running a scan   18 August 2014, 01:42

Yesterday, my port became locked after I ran a scan. I'm thinking it's possible that the Cisco switch interpreted all of the pings as a Denial of Service attack and shut it down (as well as a number of others). Any ideas how I can slow the frequency of the scanning to avoid this behavior?

It was Saturday and I don't have passwords to the switches, so I couldn't check the exact nature of the lock.

You can play with the "Max. threads" and "Scan in random order" options on the General tab in the Options menu to see whether the switch reacts to the volume of the pings or the fact they are scanned sequentially.
