VPN disconnected after a scan   16 April 2020, 17:50

Has anyone come across a problem with Cisco AnyConnect VPN after running netscan. A few minutes after opening netscan and running a scan, my wireless card shows "No internet" and I lose internet access. I then have to shutdown netscan, disconnect the VPN and then reconnect to get internet access back.

It is possible that your remote network uses an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) which, as a security precaution, disconnects you whenever it detects a scan.

There is a Scan in random order setting in the Network Scanner options, General tab. It will evade detection by some IDS, though it's not guaranteed.

Yes this is part of the Cisco System. You need to connect to a machine on the LAN and use it for scanning. We do that all the time to get around the VPN security.
