Different configs for quick discovery and for full scans

Started by User

To increase the speed of my scans, I would like to have a minimal config for quick scanning, and another config with almost all options enabled. However, I noticed that the scanned network is also saved along with the config.

What would be great is the ability to have a minimal setup just for discovery, with everything turned off in the options, but then be able to select all scan options from a host's context menu. Selecting all scan options only works if they're enabled in the config, but then the scans go from really fast to very slow. wink

If you have any suggestions on how I could manage this - one config for discovery, and one for full scanning - I'd be grateful for any tips.

You're right, each configuration in Network Scanner contains not just the scan options, but also the IP address ranges and other settings.

At this stage, scan options can't be mixed dynamically (e.g. using a minimal config but selecting advanced scans ad hoc). However, your current approach of using two separate configs (one minimal for discovery and another for full scanning) is correct. You can quickly scan the whole network with the minimal config, and then switch to the full config for rescanning specific devices if needed. This allows you to balance speed and depth of analysis effectively.
