There are two ways to assign or change a friendly name:
- From the scan results: right-click on a device and select Assign Friendly Name (or press F2). This opens a dialog where you can type the desired name.
- From the menu: go to Options > Friendly Names / Comments. This opens a manager where you can view, add, edit, or delete all your friendly name entries in one place. You can also import and export them as CSV.
Before you can use friendly names, you need to configure how devices are identified. In the
Friendly Names / Comments dialog, use the mapping selector to choose which columns uniquely identify a device (e.g. MAC-address or IP-address). MAC-address is generally a good choice as it stays the same even if the IP changes.
Once configured, the friendly names will automatically appear in the scan results next to the matching devices.
