The Network Scanner is great!

Windows XP SP2 firewall is blocking the Scan of some machines. Can I open a port on these machines to allow the scan? Is there a better way?

I am not sure what you mean. Yes, of course you can open needed ports, or can disable the firewall completely. It's up to you.

My question should have been... What port does Network Scanner use? I would like to open the just enough to allow the scan.

Ports 135 to 139 and 445 to detect shared folders. Port 161 for SNMP.
Permit the ICMP protocol if the computers do not answer.
