Using RAMdisk for WMC LiveTV buffers   23 August 2016, 07:28

I'm running Windows Media Center on Windows 7 Home Premium.
I have told WMC to use "E:\Recorded TV" as the place for saved recordings. So it is creating the hidden file "E:\Recorded TV\TempRec" as the place for the LiveTV buffers. I would like to use a ram disk for these buffers

;; created a 500MB ram disk called Z:

;; created a symbolic link
E:
cd "Recorded TV"
mklink "TempRec" "Z:\buffers"

When I rebooted to start WMC ehome services and WMC the ram disk was still there, but the link on E: was gone and replaced with an actual directory holding the buffers.

What should I have done ?

I don't know, I guess it's the WMC that deletes the symbolic link E:\Recorded TV\TempRec and replaces it with an actual directory.

As a workaround you can try deleting the directory and putting a symbolic link using a BAT file every time system starts.
