I just updated SoftPerfect RAM Disk on a couple Win10/11 systems to version 4.4.3. It worked, but it seemed more painful than I think it should be.
I am running some "special" folders on the RAM disk, including TEMP/TMP directory redirects for the OS, and redirects of Browser cache directories. It's easy enough to quit browsers before I upgrade, but the TEMP/TMP directories are harder. The RAM Disk updater wouldn't run with the application already running, so in all cases I had to manually dismount the RAM drive, after which Windows wasn't super-happy without its now-missing TEMP/TMP directories. To avoid that I'd need to redirect the TEMP/TMPs back to the C: drive, perhaps with intermediate reboots.
I would have hoped the updater could simply update the RAM Disk application files on the drive, with the old RAM Disk still running in memory, after which a single reboot would recreate everything as before in RAM without the need to shuffle TEMP/TMP file locations, manually dismount RAM disks, and intermediate reboots.
Do you have a smoother and easier process to upgrade the SoftPerfect RAM Disk software on a Windows system already running a RAM Disk with some of the setups I'm using?
