Updating Windows 10 with RAM Disk to Windows 11

Updating Windows 10 with RAM Disk to Windows 11   17 February 2026, 22:19

I am running SoftPerfect RAM Disk version 4.2.0 64-bit currently on Windows 10. I trade futures and have installed trading programs directly into the RAM disk. LOVE this product. Wicked fast. (Also no problem if I loose power as data and everything I need is downloaded and streamed from offsite.)

I need to upgrade my OS to Windows 11. My current RAM Disk license is good through 7/26/2027. Will I run into problems if I simply run the Windows 11 updater without changing anything in the RAM Disk? Do you recommend updating SoftPerfect RAM Disk before moving to Windows 11, after moving to Windows 11, or leave it alone as is?

(Related question: If I update RAM Disk to a newer version, do I need to remove the current RAM disk and reinstall programs on it, or will your updater leave this RAM disk in place?)

Thank You,
Dan

We are very glad to hear that you love our RAM Disk and that it is working well for your trading setup.

Upgrading to Windows 11 with RAM Disk version 4.2 should be Ok — it is compatible and should continue working. That said, version 4.2 is about five years old now, and we've made a lot of improvements since then. We recommend updating RAM Disk application to the latest version before making the jump to Windows 11. Your current RAM Disk licence covers this update, so there's no additional cost.

RAM Disk updater will replace the application files but will leave your RAM disk images and configuration intact. You won't need to reinstall your trading programs or recreate anything.
