Rules not controlling, can still access internet   28 September 2010, 21:25

I need help setting up my rules. I have mac filter on and still anyone can access the system. I have this setup...Modem--Router--In Vista Server Out--Switch--2 WAP's. I only have rules with the users name and mac address. What other rules do I need to control these users speeds? Anyone who has the wireless password can still access the internet. Please help!

Most likely the WAPs are substituting the users' MAC addresses with its own. Try to make a rule based on a user's IP address to see if it works.

I am not quite sure what you mean.

If you want to say that your rules are working properly, but you need to prevent unauthorised users from accessing the Internet, then you will need to create a blocking rule.

If you want to say that your rules are not processing traffic that they should have been processing. In this case, we'll need to investigate further.

Please advise which is your situation.

Andrew,

I want to thank you for your help and this program is awesome. I finally figured it our through trial and error. I created a Not in Network name and did this...

Direction:Both
Transer Rate: Bytes second and blocked
Protocol:any IPv4
Interface:Lan
Source: Any
Destination:any

and this did exactly what I wanted to do is block anyone who is not on my network.
