Restricting the bandwidth of a specific service   18 July 2006, 08:45

I would like to restrict the bandwidth of a specific service running on Windows XP. When defining a port list, I see the instructions are to "Enter a service name or port number". When I try to enter the service name, I receive the error "Unrecognized Server Name". What is the Bandwidth Manager expecting in this field?

Thanks!

It expects a TCP or UDP port alias. This is what is contained in the file c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services, for example ftp, http, pop3 and so on.
