NT4 & MS Proxy...How do I get this to work?   10 December 2005, 05:47

I have a pretty standard WinNT 4.0 SP5 with MS Proxy running. (2 network cards, internal & external). I cannot logon to localhost...what do I need to do?

I receive the error...
Socket error 10061 Connection refused.

Try the following:

Disable your firewall if it is installed.

Make sure that you have installed the bandwidth manager service on this PC and the service is running. It starts automatically on a system boot. However, you can start it from the Administrative Tools - Services control panel applet.

Look for any error messages in the BWMSVC.LOG file located in the installation directory.

The SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager core cannot be installed on Windows 95/98/ME. You can install only the GUI control tool, but the core requires Windows NT/2000/XP/2003.
