Removal of Network adapters and Bandwidth Manager

Started by Barry

Would it be possible to stop the Bandwidth Manager from changing the network adapters on the rules when an adapter is removed.

I have an ADSL modem connected via USB and when its powered off its network adapter gets removed.

This causes the bandwidth manager to alter the network adapter on all its rules, totally stuffing them up.
(Note: happens regardless weather it is a USB or ethernet connection)

Can this be stopped?

That's probably because the bandwidth manager uses the adapter index to identify the adapter and the indexes change when you enable/disable a card. As a result, you get the same ruleset but broken because the rules no longer point to correct adapters. Do I understand correctly?
Yeap,

Instead of a rule pointing to say the LAN adapter it now points to the WAN adapter instead, breaking the rules.

Whoops, found the bug. Try this new build (install it over the previously installed one):
[url expired] It should work fine. Tell me if it does not.

Just resent it. It's from "Gavin & Sandy" as the mrs uses this address a lot for home stuff. It's rather impotant incase you haven't picked up on it already but I don't wish to post what it is.

Andrew... I see that you have many versions of BWM...

What the lastest version ? I need the lastest version compatible with kerio winroute with the all bugs corrected..

bwmsetup-im-xp-2k3.exe 10-Jan-2006 16:14 1.9M
bwmsetup-largegroups..> 07-Feb-2006 06:22 1.9M
bwmsetup-rel-2006030..> 04-Mar-2006 06:46 1.9M
bwmsetup-trial-20th-..> 20-Feb-2006 10:49 1.7M
bwmsetuplite-im-xp-2..> 10-Jan-2006 18:34 1.4M

Now.. I have instaled "bwmsetup-im-xp-2k3.exe"...

This version "bwmsetup-rel-2006030" is the last version OK?
It´s is compatible with kerio winroute ?

Andrew... you are doing a excelent job ! Congratulations... The BWM is wonderfull... I am waiting for the version with a dynamic band control... Congratulations again and again ! laugh
Andrew,

This build is only partially working right inregards to what I wanted.

It doesn't stuff up the rules on adapter removal now but is still stuffing them up when the adapter is replaced.

Gavin: Got your e-mail and sent an answer, thank you.

Lucas & Sergio All these packages are obsolete and were updated today. Now, the latest releases are available here, but if you have the Kerio WinRoute Firewall installed, please review this thread

Barry: Well, at least one issue has been fixed. What do you mean by 'replacing' an adapter?
My ADSL is connected via USB.

As a result is virtual network adapter disappears and reappears when the cable is removed or modem is powered off/on.
