Bandwidth Manager stopping all traffic   20 March 2006, 20:58

I'm having a problem now with the manager.

After a few minutes of running, it stops all traffic for some unknown reason.

Restarting the service works (but again only for a few minutes), stopping it entirly also works (running like this now).

No firewalls at all running (or even installed), system had been up for days without a problem then suddenly this starts happening.

Is there a debug build available (one with full logging), cause it would help in identifing the problem. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling didn't work and neither did reinstalling the network adapters.

I'm at a lost of why this is suddenly happening.

Is there any '*.log' files in the bandwidth manager folder (especailly bwmsvc.log)?

I really don't know what it is. If you have running Windows XP SP2 or Windows 2003 try this special build
May be it helps.

Update:

still not working.

I installed that build, no luck, disabled two un-used network adapters, no luck.

Granted this build lasted a few minutes longer then the standard build did.

why isn't there a service log? (to record everything that is happening with the service)

By the way, I keep having these in my windows system log, it wouldn't have anything to do with it, would it?

The browser has forced an election on network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{##################################} because the Domain Controller (or Server) has changed its role.

Problem solved. The symptoms were as follows: everything worked as expected but after 10 minutes after start all network activity becomes frozen. The problem was a 'blocking' rule that applied to all network protocols including ARPs. When the ARP cache expired (in 10 minutes) the computer was no longer able to connect using IP protocols.

To All: Please do not use any blocking rules that apply to 'Any' protocol to avoid the collision

It seems to pop up enough this topic now, something that could easily be overlooked when setting up BWM.

Gavin.
