I am not sure if this is a right place to ask.
I have following setup:
WAN router -- BWM computer with XP (ICS) -- WiFi router -- 8 port switch -- Different PCs
Currently WAN router (LAN side IP 192.168.0.200) gives DHCP in range from 192.168.0.220 to 192.168.0.240 and I have setup BWM computer to obtain IP automatically and it distributes IP via ICS. The IP for BWM is 192.168.0.1
WiFi router is given 192.168.0.205 and I have disabled its DHCP so I am assuming the WAN router is the one that does all the DHCP stuffs.
My question is can I make BWM computer to give out DHCP instead of router? Is there any benefit that way? BWM is working fine the way it is now.
Theoretically you can find a third party DHCP server as ICS does not provide a DHCP service (to the best of my knowledge). Practically, it won't give any benefit, so I would stick to the current setup.
