Limiting p2p ports to get more bandwidth for Internet surfing

Started by harry

Hi i have a adsl modem and linksys router giving internet/file sharing to 2 desktops

My question relates to one computer only, can i use your software to limit my p2p downloading so that i can surf the internet as well. I think what i'm trying to say is somehow to set a limit of say 20kbps on the ports that p2p use ie 6881-6889 so i can use the rest of the speed for something else

can you please explain rule-wise, as i am not too* good with networking

Sure, just make a rule like this:
 Protocol: TCP/UDP
 Direction: Both
 Rate: 20000
Source: local host (means your computer)
 Destination: any : ports 6881-6889
Interface: LAN (which points to the ADSL modem)
or

Try both.

Sometimes you can get the answer faster if you try the forum search and/or have a look at the software user manual to see if your question has already been answered.
