Why was Teredo disabled?   08 December 2013, 14:52

I installed Networx on two Win7 computers, one is 32-bit and the other is 64-bit. After install both computers showed a yellow sign near Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface in Device Manager. "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
I re-enabled Teredo in the registry and it works normally again, but I was wondering why would you need to disable it in the first place? Thanks.

This is a workaround when the WFP (Windows Filtering Platform) driver is installed. If you choose to install the TDI driver, Teredo will stay enabled.

Hi Andrew,

Where can I find more information about this problem/workaround?
I manually enabled Teredo in the registry, so what happens now?
Is WFD totally incompatible with Teredo? Thanks.

I am not sure, as this is what the installation procedure of the traffic filtering driver does.

This is a third-party driver and they say Teredo may be disabled for the installation of a WFP driver, which is then re-enabled after a reboot.

I suppose if it's working fine for you, you don't need to do anything.

OK, now I see. Basically mine did not get re-enabled, so I enabled it manually. Otherwise everything seems to work fine. Thanks for clarifications.

If anyone still checks this page: how exactly can I re-enable Teredo manually?

Perhaps this can help? In an admin command prompt type:
netsh interface teredo set state type=default
