Using NetWorx on a big scale   03 March 2015, 08:59

Hello,

I simply wanted to ask a question which is probably asked all the time.

What is the solution to provide these same statistics for a large environment (5 - 70 users), not simply running it on the router?
Are there any plans to make a lightweight client that can speak to a centralized host?
Is there anyway to run NetWorx silently without the user being able to see it?
Do any of your other products do this?

Thanks

Normally for this purpose monitoring software is installed on the router, or between the router and the rest of the network. Our software for that is called Bandwidth Manager. It could be installed as shown below and and no software is required for client machines:

This is the best way because:
  1. The monitoring software cannot be disabled or tampered with.
  2. There is no need to install anything on client computers and devices.
  3. Advanced management is possible (black lists, quotas, transparent proxying, etc).

Having said that, there is also a serverless option with NetWorx:
  1. Install NetWorx on every machine.
  2. Turn on usage sync in the advanced settings.
  3. Turn off the notification area icon in the hidden settings.

In this case there will be no visible presence of NetWorx and each instance will sync its usage records with others.

Fair enough. Do you have a screenshot of Bandwidth Managers user breakdown list? I am yet to find a resource which shows the breakdown of users.

Further, would Bandwidth Manager show roughly the same interface as networx but for multiple users?

Thanks

Bandwidth Manager is a totally different product. It can track users by their IP address, or MAC address, but not user name. You can learn about its features and see some screen shots in the on-line user manual.
