Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   26 January 2016, 02:32

Had been monitoring my router with 5.4.2, but after updating to 5.5 that no longer works. Router is Linksys E4500, I am running Win 10 Pro, hard wired LAN.

What exactly doesn't work: the router doesn't show up in the dialog below, or this part works fine, but there's nothing on the graph?

I have the same problem. After upgrading to 5.5 the router does not appear anymore in the UPnP dropdown box. It's a LinkSys E2500 router.
When I did the upgrade, I followed the recommendation and used the TDI implementation. Because it was not working, I have uninstall it and install it again using the WFP but the result is still the same.
Any clue?

Perhaps something goes wrong with these routers. It shouldn't be too hard to catch though. Could either of you guys please do the following?
  1. Download this build.
  2. Unpack it in a temporary folder.
  3. Let it run for a few minutes.
  4. Quit NetWorx and e-mail me networx.txt from that folder to support@softperfect.com.
There would be recorded router responses to allow us identify and fix the issue.

Just sent the file.

I Have another PC in a different network that was also monitoring the router (Linksys 1200) and it is not finding the router too.

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   27 January 2016, 17:41

Thank you, it appears the web-server in the router doesn't respond with 200 OK.

I have added more logging to see what response it sends, so please try the updated build and post here a new log.

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   27 January 2016, 19:49

Looks really strange as if the router didn't have a web-server running or didn't respond. I guess we'll have to buy the actual device to debug this, stay tuned.

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   28 January 2016, 17:54

I will try to send you a capture of the traffic when I access that router. It may help.

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   28 January 2016, 21:04

Thanks, we've received that, but what I need is a capture of what NetWorx sends to the router and what response it receives. Could you please capture it with NetWorx talking to the router?
Bruno

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   29 January 2016, 04:46

Already sent the capture. Please confirm reception.

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   31 January 2016, 06:51

Sorry couldn't respond sooner.

I do see the router in the top drop-down box -- WANDevice1 -- and the WANCommonIFC1 interface, but there's nothing on the graph. Even the old data on the graph does not crawl.
Mark

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   31 January 2016, 07:06

I tried running both builds of Networx you posted, and neither one works. The software appears to run, but no networx.txt is created. Also, when I went to settings and tried to monitor my router, it did not show up at all this time.

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   31 January 2016, 17:43

I have the same problem with 5.5 and monitoring the router. I have a Fritz!Box 7490, before the update the monitored interface has listed 'Router Fritz!Box 7490' with all the other options but after the update there is only 'Router' listed with the other options and I don't get any data from this option.
I have downgraded back to 5.4.2.

Hi Andrew,
While debuging this problem can you please give us the path to the old version?

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   02 February 2016, 13:22

Good news here. We've finally received a router and the bug was reproduced and fixed.

Please download the new build and it should work well now.

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   02 February 2016, 20:37

This version still does not fix the problem for the Fritz!Box 7490, version 5.4.2 works fine.

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   02 February 2016, 22:29

Could this be a firewall preventing NetWorx from finding the router? Try turning it off.

Version 5.4.2 used the built-in Windows implementation, while versions 5.5 and 5.5.1 use our own one, which may be detected and blocked by a firewall.
Mark

Re: Can no longer monitor router with 5.5   03 February 2016, 03:10

Build 5.5.1 seems to be working OK now with router monitoring of my Linksys EA4500. FYI, 5.4.2 reported the Gateway name as the name I assigned to the wireless AP (BSSID), while 5.5.x reports only as WANDevice1.
