WAN interface monitoring stops after 5-10 minutes   27 October 2020, 10:14

Hi,
I have Tenda AC6 router, and I set up NetWorx to monitor only the router. But after 5-10 minutes it stops collecting data from WAN interface and the icon on my taskbar goes grey. The traffic is 0. I need to restart my router to establish the connection again. I want to buy this product so I need your help.

Thanks

Are you using SNMP or UPnP for collecting the usage data in NetWorx?

It is likely to be an issue with the router's firmware. We found that UPnP implementations often have bugs, the most common ones being:
  • Some routers stop increasing their upload/download counters after reaching the 4 GiB mark (2^32 bytes).
  • Some routers freeze or crash when UPnP is polled every second (which is what NetWorx does).
Unfortunately it is not clear which one is your case.

If your router supports SNMP, you can try using it instead. SNMP is normally a better option and usually works well. If your router doesn't support SNMP, I am afraid there is nothing we can do.

You can also try this third-party application, UPnP Gateway Traffic Monitor, but it will probably produce the same results.

Thank you very much for the explanation. I tried NetWorx on the main router and it works perfectly. So the problem is in the Tenda AC6 router.
I will use the whole NetWorx trail period to test it further, and if I'm satisfied I will buy it.

Once again, thanks for the quick response from your side.
