NetWorx Speed Meter vs SpeedTest.net   10 February 2021, 13:11

I've just run both of these with the following results:
  • Speedtest.net, ping 10ms & 233.16 Mbps download
  • Speed Meter, ping 16ms & 87.1 Mbit/s (10.4 MB/s) maximum download
Both used a Spectrum server in Tampa.

Can you please explain why there is such a big difference in these figures?

Unfortunately, it is hard to tell in such cases. I just did one test in Speed Meter and another one in speedtest.net, and their results were very similar, see below.

I guess the difference you saw could be due to a temporary congestion, or from multi-vs-single connection, as by default speedtest.net does multiconnection whereas NetWorx uses a single connection.
