Problems with network/internet connection after updating to v7.3.1

Started by Nick

Hello.
After updating to new version 7.3.1 I encountered problems with connection and startup of some programs.
So far, known problems with:
  • Steelseries GG - not opening UI.
  • Steam client - problem with connection, switching online/offline mode as well as downloading in client.
  • Surfshark VPN client - cannot connect and start properly.
Problem occurs when "monitor applications internet usage" selected in the NetWorx Settings - Main tab.
Rolled back to v 7.3 - no issue. Working well as expected.

Windows 11 Pro 24H2, OS build 26100.4202

Thank you for reporting this issue. We have identified the cause of the problem and are now working on a solution.
The new version 7.3.1 is causing problems with UnigetUI app. UnigetUi is a GUI package manager.
If I install the previous NetWorx version 7.3 there is no problem with UnigetUI.
I am also having an intermittent problem trying to login to my router's GUI interface at http://192.168.1.1/2.0/gui/#/. With NetWorx 7.3.1 enabled, after I enter my login details and click on login, the GUI will say "Please Wait" and hang there. I cannot get logged in. If I close NetWorx 7.3.1 when this is happening, it will immediately login. This only happens now and again. Sometimes it will login with no issue. With 7.3.1 not running, I have logged in several times and there is no hang.
There is also an issue with Mozilla Firefox browser. When I click on the X window caption button to close the browser then try to re-open the browser, I get a window with this message "Firefox is already running, but not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window." There are buttons to "Close Firefox" or "Cancel". I can see several instances of Firefox open in Task Manager.
If I click "Close Firefox", then Firefox will open, but if I input any URL in the address bar, it is unresponsive and hangs.
If I do not make a choice in the first window, another window pops up stating "Firefox Crash Reporter" and "Firefox had a problem and crashed..." and offering to send a crash report to Mozilla with buttons to restart or quit Firefox.
If NetWorx is not running, there is no issue with Firefox.

There does not seem to be any issue with Microsoft Edge when NetWorx is running. It opens, closes, restarts and searches as normal (there are several instances of Edge in Task Manager but that seems to be normal behaviour for Edge).
I updated from Version 7.3 to Version 7.3.1. It caused both my browsers (Chrome and Edge) to stop working. It appeared that any address you entered could not be found. Verified network was working via other programs. No luck with Microsoft network troubleshooter it said network was fine.

Reloaded an old version 7.3 of my system onto disk and everything worked fine. Updated Windows, Chrome, and Edge. Everything worked fine.

I attempted to install 7.3.1 and the problem was there again.

Thanks everyone for providing more details. This issue is related to the new driver in NetWorx.

We strive to deliver well-tested, high-quality software, but unfortunately this time a few bugs made their way into the latest release of the driver that NetWorx uses for filtering Internet traffic.

We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and will release a fix soon.
Hi,
Same issue here. I had upload activity (up to 215Mbit) from the "dns-client" service to a IP 2a00:1f:something (DNS server?) while the browser (MS Edge) and system reported "no internet connection".

I have no VPN software or similar installed on my system.

OS:
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 24H2
Systembuild 26100.4202 with Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.107.0

Best regards,
Ari smile
Just for the record. Last night for three hours I was trying to figure out why none of my browsers was able to load any page. I finally found out this was because of the NetWorx app v 7.3.1.

In my case the solution was to reinstall the 7.3.1 version and restart the computer twice. Everything has been fine since.
But before that, I noticed a strange thing. I suspected NetWorx so I first tried to uninstall it - but I couldn't. Each time I attempted to, after the uninstallation had begun, the app restarted itself even though it had been closed before, and stopped the uninstallation process.

Problems with internet connection in other apps after updating to v7.3.1 - Resolved   02 June 2025, 11:37

We have resolved the issue that was preventing some applications from accessing the Internet or local devices while NetWorx was running.

Please download and install the latest NetWorx version 7.3.2, then reboot your system twice, and the problem should be gone.
With the new NetWorx build I can login to my router immediately. It doesn't hang. UnigetUI GUI connects to internet without issue. I tested this NetWorx on both my PCs. Everything is ok.Thank you.
