How to use graph without getting an extra ALT+TAB window   05 October 2025, 07:24

I have been using the old free version of NetWorx for years and now decided to give the new paid version a try. For the most part it seems just as capable but slightly more stable than the last free version was.
But I like to keep a small graph on top of my screen in the top right corner 24/7, and while the new app can do so nicely just like the old app could, it also creates a entry into the ALT+TAB menu while the old app never did that. I would like to know if there is a way to make it so that this no longer happens or if it could be fixed in future updates?

Thanks for letting us know. It looks like you are using borderless graph (floating window without a title bar). In this mode the graph can incorrectly show up in the Alt+Tab list.

This was a bug and we have just fixed it. Please download the updated build and let us know whether it works better for you.

Hey that fixed the issue with the useless clutter in alt+tab menu, but then there is the issue that if I use multiple desktops, it only shows up in one and I need open another one for the second desktop.

The old 5.5.5.16283 that is free, it opened up and showed on all virtual desktops. Only issue and the reason why I updated to this new one, was that out of the blue there is this permanent small box with close button right in the middle of my desktop, it appeared few days ago and after bit testing I found out that it appeared as soon as I added that floating graph on the top and went away as soon as I hid it.

It appeared out of the blue meaning that I did not perform any Windows updates nor other app updates either.
And I doubt it was just automatic silent updates either since I have used that "notify me before downloading and installing updates" group policy value on my Windows 10 pro since RTM days. So I would have known if updates had been installed.

Is this some known issue with easy fix, or is this just the day when the old 5.5.5 has finally stopped working properly?
I added a screenshot of the issue with the old 5.5.5 running, notice how in the middle of the screen there is that small box with window borders and that X button to close it down.

Sure I have a Windows 7 Aero Glass theme with ultrauxtheme patcher running, but that has been the case for like since the days of Windows 8 with no issues. And unpatching, restarting and running the ugly flat Windows 10 theme did not help with the bug either.

So only thing that the Aero Glass theme affects here, is that the thicker transparent window borders make it more noticeable.
I can't interact with it in any other ways than small spots if it do make my cursor look like it could spread it open and that X does highlight as ifI could interact with it. But again it does nothing.
At least it will fall behind other open windows, but if I were to open it now, that box would appear on top of my browser. Tho as soon as I click on the browses and make it active, that box thing will fall behind the browser window even tho the graph is set and stays on top.

The box can be located in the centre of the screen, right under the "Cancel" button of the Wallpaper Engine wallpaper:

I'm not sure where that invisible window in the old version comes from, as no one else has ever reported it. Please try the latest version and let me know if it still happens, and under what exact circumstances, and we'll be happy to look into it further.

As for showing the graph on all virtual desktops, the old version wasn't really aware of virtual desktops at all, and the latest version isn't either. From what I can tell, this is controlled by a Windows setting. You can find it under Settings - System - Multitasking, where you can choose whether app windows appear on all desktops or only the one you are using:

This does not work, since I want the apps to stay in their own desktops instead of cluttering all desktops (even if just was the taskbar icon)

Do you still have the latest free version up for download? Maybe it is just something wrong with my install and I could fix the phantom box issue with fresh install of the legacy version.
I'm not just looking for a free lunch here, I just feel like the old version worked better and did all I needed it to do for years. And the latest version seems to be full of these weird little things like not showing up on multiple desktops unless opened multiple instances manually.

Edit: found the old version from Softperfect, but even after full reinstall the same weird bug remained. I did then a reinstall of the new version and at least now for some reason the graph appears on both desktops and no Alt+Tab weirdness either.

Let's just wait and see few more days how this behaves, maybe I have to update to the latest version permanently and buy the license for it.
How do this licenses works?I see it is per device for 15€ and 5 devices for 25€ for home users. But if I buy that 1 device license now, could I contact you guys if my PC broke down and transfer the license for a new computer, or can I transfer it myself too?

Yes, you can simply move your licence to a new PC if you replace your current one. There is no need to contact us for that.

Just keep in mind that the licence includes updates for one year by default. If you plan to use the app for longer, it may be worth getting a licence with three years or unlimited updates. This model helps us keep a predictable revenue stream, continue improving the software, and keep the company going.

Thank you as well for supporting us after using the free version for so many years. We really appreciate it.

Well considering the years I got out of it for free, that 38€ was not unreasonable asking price for upgrades.
BUT! if modern medicine takes leaps and bounds forward and I end up living past the year 2099, will I get a free extension since it was supposed to be lifetime license after all... wink

Yes, if advancements of modern medicine extend to the people in our company, and we also keep living and working past the year 2099, we will be happy to provide you with a free extension. smile
