Re: High RAM usage on startup on one computer

4 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Do I understand correctly that out of 7 computers that had the latest version installed, only one is manifesting this issue? If that's the case and upon launch NetWorx quickly consumes a lot of memory, the culprit may be a broken installation of WinPCap in your system. WinPCap is a universal packet capture driver that many applications can use, including NetWorx. NetWorx attempts to use Win

Re: Monitoring traffic on a router

Sorry there isn't much I can say specifically about your situation without seeing your screenshot. To add the screenshot you can either attach it to your message via the "Attach a file ..." link all registered users have right above the message field; or upload it to any online image hosting service you like (for example, tinyimg.io) and simply add the link to your message. Here is

Re: How to merge two Internet connection bandwidths

No, that's not something BM can do. The best solution perobably is to use a load-balancing router designed exactly for that (which can be plugged in front of BM).

Re: Using variables in Remote Registry queries

4 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

This syntax isn't supported in registry paths in the current release. However, it makes sense to implement it, which we just did in the fresh builds. It should now be possible to use something like this in the multiple keys/wildcards mode: Software\Program Name\Key Please note: it has to be either wildcards (* and ?) or alternating segments , not both in the same expression. We have also

Re: Hide hostname resolution message box via command prompt

4 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

It is supposed to serve as a warning that some names may be invalid or something else is wrong. At the same time, you are right, it doesn't make sense to display that message when running from a batch file or script. We have just uploaded new builds where the message about discarded names is not shown when the /file switch is used.

Re: Helper program for Admin-only Mode

It sounds like Npcap was installed with admin-only access, as shown below. The solution is obviously to reinstall it so that any user can access it.

Re: Enhancing multi-clause filters

That's indeed a bug, thanks. We've fixed it in the latest builds.

Re: Hide hostname resolution message box via command prompt

Yes, we have just modified the application so it doesn't display that prompt when the /file command line parameter is used. You can download the latest preliminary build here.

Re: Feature suggestion: report requested IP or website for each application

5 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

This feature has been added in the latest build. Two-way look-up is possible, i.e. to find out which sites a specific application accessed, and which applications accessed a specific site. Please note that per-application per-site data will only be recorded after the new build is installed. These reports will not be available for past records. Additionally, this build aims to keep the data

Re: Can the Linux version be used without GUI?

NetWorx on Linux is a GUI only application: it requires GTK2 and a desktop environment. In a console you may want to use something like VnStat.

Re: Large size of database/log file NetWorx.db

5 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

The reason the siteusage and sitename tables are growing so much is that in Ignore local traffic within the LAN mode NetWorx records per IP address statistics. This could add a large number of records if P2P applications like Bittorrent are used, where your computer would connect to many peers for data exchange. We have just updated NetWorx to deal with this issue: the new builds automatically

Re: MIB repository

5 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

The installed version comes with a set of basic MIB files and everything should work "out of the box". For the portable version however you would need to place these files in \Mibs sub-folder. I have attached the required MIB files to this message.

Re: Scan results data is not saved to CSV

5 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

It sounds like you may be choosing All items when saving, rather than Visible Items. In that case hidden rows will be included as well (those that you have filtered out, which are probably the ones that contain errors). We have also added a Columns button in the latest builds, so you can choose which columns go to CSV, text and HTML, without having to hide them manually.

Re: Suggestion: Add maximum upload and download speed to the reports

5 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

No one else has expressed their interest in this feature (and frankly this is what we expected). As we aim to keep NetWorx as simple as possible, I am afraid at this stage there is no plan to implement it.

Re: Scan results data is not saved to CSV

5 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

These look like VBScript errors, which is strange because the scripts are only executed during scanning. Are you saying that the displayed data are correct, but they are wrong when saved to a CSV file? Can you post some screenshots?

Re: Image header is corrupted or not accessible (error C0000098)

5 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

There are two identical 4KB headers: a primary header in the beginning of the file and a backup header in the end of the file. Try a third-party disk mount utility that supports entering an offset, like OSFMount v2 (see under Downloads/Previous version). You need to enter the offset of 4096 bytes as shown below to the data when mounting the image file. An image file is essentially a 4K header

Re: Connection Emulator and Jenkins Agent

5 months ago, by Andrew in Connection Emulator Forum

I am not familiar with Jenkins, but it sounds like some of the parameters you set also affect Jenkins' own connection. Let's say if you have enabled packet loss and high latency, it will apply to every connection from and to the machine where the emulator is installed. Perhaps try setting up a filter in the emulator, so that it only affects the tested application(s) rather than every connectio

Good point, we will add a prompt like this in the next release. It will pop up at the end of uninstallation:

Re: Using column values in RegEx

Please post here the complete scripts and regex-es you are using. Or submit a support ticket and attach your entire config file (you can strip out all sensitive information like passwords). We will definitely check what's happening there.

Re: Can't update MAC-address database

Thank you, that's a good point. We have mirrored the file on our web-site where should be accessible 24/7. The new release will have the new link embedded and the file will be updated every month.

Thanks, that's indeed a bug. The new builds should resolve this issue.

Re: Bluescreen after installing version 4.0.9

Quoterocket777 I would like to make one last suggestion (I promise) : to have a setting to disable the threading code that's been added recently. If I do get another crash, I could then check if that makes a difference. If you are referring to the change in version 4.0.9 mentioned in the changelog as "Improved: up to 2x performance increase in multithreaded I/O", then please try vers

Re: Bluescreen after installing version 4.0.9

6 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

@rocket777 Sorry we are unable to determine the cause of your crash. We went through the crash dump again and even narrowed it to the line of code, but there is nothing suspicious there. It's a regular pointer cast to check some RAM disk's internal flags. The only way it can possibly crash is if something is wrong with that memory location. Like you suggested above, there may be a compatibi

Re: Bluescreen after installing version 4.0.9

We use WinDbg for analysis, you can install it as a component of the Microsoft debugging tools. To see the full analysis enter the !analyze -v command. In Prime 95 you don't need to join any online program, simply choose the Just stress testing option and then Blend. By the way, even if the old version works okay (it may simply not encounter the existing hardware fault due to the difference

Re: Bluescreen after installing version 4.0.9

You are right, the crash took place in one of the RAM Disk drivers, but it seems the underlying cause is faulty RAM. Here is a bit of info from the minidump: Quote MODULE_NAME: hardware IMAGE_NAME: hardware_ram *** Memory manager detected 60171 instance(s) of page corruption, target is likely to have memory corruption. Re: Upgrade from version 3.4.7

The best way to upgrade to the latest version from 3.4.7 and get a free trial would be as follows: Temporarily reassign your temporary folders to a hard disk location, i.e. C:\temp. Backup your disk definitions via File - Export Disks. Uninstall the currently installed (old) version and reboot. If you have any issues with incomplete uninstallation, see this page. Install the latest version d

Re: BitComet traffic is not recorded when "Ignore LAN traffic" is checked

Generally it should not matter what router is used or what you are connected to. The TDI/WFP drivers work at a higher level in the system. Try uninstalling NetWorx and then reinstall it with the TDI driver instead. Microsoft started deprecating TDI only in Windows 8, so chances are it will work fine on Windows 7. If it still does not, I am afraid we can't help you with this specific issue give
