Re: Application window opens too far to the right of the screen

7 months ago, by Andrew in WiFi Guard Forum

Sorry we have been unable to reproduce this so far. Even after a reboot of Windows 10 the window opens up where it's supposed to be. Anyway, thanks for letting us know about this issue. We will keep an eye on it to see if it happens to any one else.

Re: Application window opens too far to the right of the screen

It looks like for some reason WiFi Guard has remembered incorrect screen coordinates. Please try dragging it to the middle of the screen, then choose File - Quit from the main menu (don't use the button in the title bar). After that, restart WiFi Guard and it should appear where you placed it.

Re: Occasionally losing drive letter

7 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

It is highly unusual for a drive letter to disappear. We use our own RAM Disk application all the time, and have never experienced this issue. To clarify further, when you say the drive is still mounted but without a drive letter, do you mean that the drive appears in Disk Management or File Explorer without a drive letter assigned to it? If possible, could you provide a screenshot or more deta

Re: Bookmark search

8 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

Thank you for the suggestion. Generally, the menu itself is not suitable for embedding a search box. Instead, we have added bookmarks in the Navigator that allows one to quickly access a setting or feature. You are welcome to download the new build, then press F1 and start typing your bookmark's name. It will then be available for quick use:

Sorry, that's not something we could reproduce. The app seems to run perfectly on Debian 12 with GNOME:

Re: Some fields in scan results are empty

8 months ago, by Andrew in WiFi Guard Forum

Those are the host name and NIC vendor fields. They are determined automatically for each device, but if they cannot be determined, they stay empty. These fields cannot be populated by a user.

Re: Terminated by signal SIGSEGV (Address boundary error)

Does this happen when launching the app, when scanning the network, or in some other specific circumstances?

Re: Dark Mode

Dark theme support has been included in the latest release. You can simply download it from the Connection Emulator product page, and the dark theme will be automatically activated per your system preferences.

Re: "SQL error or missing database" on macOS

Please compress your database file to a ZIP file and send it to us via our Contact Centre. We will have a look and see if it can be repaired.

Re: "SQL error or missing database" on macOS

8 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

This is a different issue unrelated to file permissions and it looks like a damaged database. The best course of action would be to delete the database, so a new empty database will be created and you can start over. For that, simply type in the Terminal: rm -rf /Users/Shared/Library/Preferences/SoftPerfect/NetWorx

Re: Remote WMI connection issue

9 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

It's probably related to the authentication data. As far as I understand, you are trying to connect with a specific user name and password...? If you run the app under the domain admin account, it's better to choose Use current account. Yet, if you want to use a different account, please make sure your password is correct and the user name is either Username@DomainName or DomainName\UserName.

Re: Remote WMI connection issue

Thank you for reporting the issue with the remote WMI connection. It's odd that it's working for some PCs across your network but not for others. To help you troubleshoot the problem, we have published a new build of the app In the updated version, we have added extra error information that will be appended to the "Failed to connect or log in" message. This additional information

Re: MAC address column is empty

9 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

Thanks for the additional feedback. Are you saying that when you compare two files, you can see that MAC addresses are actually there, but they are not shown when scanning? If so, it could be simply that the font and background are set to the same colour in the MAC address column. Please check the 'Change Column View' setting (as shown below) or try setting them to different values:

Re: Variables in application title

9 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

It's theoretically doable, but the question is: how to handle the case where more than one device is selected? It's not a problem for the actual command line as they are executed individually, but a menu would need to show them all at once.

Re: How can a standard user re-enable "Allow non-privileged users to modify settings"?

9 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

To revert this setting, you need to edit the configuration file manually: Quit the RAM Disk application using File - Exit in the main menu. Do not use the button as it will only minimise the application. Open this file in Notepad %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\SoftPerfect\RAM Disk\ramdisk.xml Change this line <useraccess>false</useraccess> to <useraccess>true</useraccess>

Re: MAC address column is empty

9 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

Thank you for your detailed message and for your recent purchase of the SoftPerfect Network Scanner license. We appreciate your support and we are here to assist with your query. Based on the information you provided, the missing MAC addresses are likely due to the fact that you are scanning a different subnet. Prior to version 8.1.5, scanning outside your subnet might have seemed to work, but

Re: Network speed is missing on the secondary monitor

9 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

It appears you're encountering a known compatibility issue due to the changes introduced in NetWorx v7.0.3. Prior to version 7.0.3, NetWorx utilised a desk band component feature. This was a standard way to extend Windows Explorer and embed custom elements in the taskbar, such as network speed. However, in Windows 11, Microsoft has completely removed the desk band interface, thus destroying the

Re: MAC address column shows "Trial Version" after a scan

10 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

If you see the words "trial version" in the scan results, it means you are using a free trial version of the software that displays a limited number of devices. Information about devices beyond the free limit is replaced with "trial version" text. Purchasing a licence and entering the licence key will remove this limitation and reveal all the device details that have been d

Re: Dark Theme

Sure, that's a great idea. We have just uploaded a new build that will use a dark theme if Windows itself was configured to use the dark mode. A sample screenshot:

Re: Multi-user access or shared config database

10 months ago, by Andrew in Switch Port Mapper Forum

The current implementation is like this: The installed version keeps all data and settings under the current user profile, typically in C:\Users\user-name\AppData\Roaming\SoftPerfect\Switch Port Mapper. Since the config is stored in the current user profile, sharing is not possible. Multiple instances are allowed, but each instance will overwrite the config file upon exit. The portable versi

Re: How to remove someone else's devices from my WiFi network

10 months ago, by Andrew in WiFi Guard Forum

Based on the information you provided, the unknown devices detected by Wifi Guard are most likely connected to your neighbour's network, not yours. When you use your laptop as a repeater to extend the range of your neighbour's WiFi, the devices that connect to your repeater network will appear as connected devices on your neighbour's router, not on your TP-Link CPE. Since DHCP is disabled o

Re: "Host is offline"

10 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

This may be the case when you open a device that is rather slow at responding to ICMP and ARP requests. When you attempt to open or connect to a device, the NetScanner app quickly checks if the device is online by sending an ARP, ICMP and/or NetBIOS request and waiting for half configured ping timeout (500ms by default). If no reply is received during that time, the Host is Offline dialog is s

That looks odd indeed. Did you do anything specific for it to become so messed up? Is there a specific action or a sequence of actions that leads to this?

NTFS RAM disk gradually loses space due to indexing - Fixed

11 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

Thank you for your patience. We found the bug that was causing contents indexing to re-enable after rebooting, despite being disabled when manually mounting a RAM disk. We've fixed this in our latest build, ensuring contents indexing stays disabled for all NTFS volumes.

Re: All MAC addresses are identical

11 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

This usually happens because of either: WiFi range extender/repeater If your devices are behind a WiFi range extender or repeater, it would look like the devices have different IP addresses, yet the same MAC address. A range extender typically hides devices behind itself and does not retain their MAC addresses. You can type arp -a in a command prompt and observe the same behaviour. One w

Re: Router traffic graph stopped showing data

11 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

We can produce a debug build that print out what's happening under the hood. But before we do that, there are two more things I would like to confirm with you: 1) Whether you are using SNMP or UPnP to monitor your router from NetWorx. 2) It's possible that some router settings have changed. In that case, please try adding your router anew: Untick the existing router entry, and then ad

Re: Router traffic graph stopped showing data

If you have not changed absolutely anything on your Mac, perhaps that's a router update or glitch? Please try restarting your router, and if that doesn't help we can investigate further.
