Re: Stats import between Windows and Linux

7 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Unfortunately the backups between Windows and Linux versions are not compatible. Despite the same name, the builds for Linux (and macOS) are essentially a separate product and that's why they have different version numbers and changelogs. We may be able to address this in the future with a converter, but for now I am afraid there is no way to transfer data between OSes.

Re: Maximum size of a RAM disk

7 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

The maximum RAM disk size is about 3 GB on 32-bit systems. There is no limit on its size on 64-bit systems. Having said that, some customers reported they were unable to create a boot-time RAM disk in excess of 150 GB+ for unknown reasons, and worked around the issue by creating several smaller RAM disks.

Is this in the latest version (7.0.8)? I wasn't able to reproduce the freeze, but we fixed a similar issue in version 6.1.3.

Simply uncheck "Automatically check for new versions" setting on the Basic settings tab:

Re: "Error writing to registry key" during installation

7 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Most likely you have an antivirus or antimalware product that denies the installer's attempt to create a key for automatic startup. You can simply ignore this error and create a startup shortcut manually if you want NetWorx to start with Windows.

Re: More flexible Column View highlighting

7 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

Sounds good. Font styles are easy to add. Referencing other columns is easy to do as well. Boolean operators are more tricky, but I will see if we can do it. Different colours and fonts for different conditions does sound a bit too complicated, let's get the above done first. Update: implemented font styles and column referencing in the latest builds.

Thanks guys for confirming it's been resolved. It was quite a silly bug!

Re: How to monitor high speed connection only

7 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

It's quite strange that the wireless hotspot's MAC address changes between connections. I guess there may be a setting in it to turn this "randomisation" on and off. If not, unfortunately NetWorx simply has no way to differentiate between connections. Say, if your PC uses the same WiFi card to connect to either "slow unmetered" or "fast metered" access point, the

Re: Slow column resizing

7 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

Turns out you are right and I failed to see the sluggish resize earlier because it only manifested itself in the release build with applied software protection. Basically the code that draws text was executed on a virtual CPU that is part of the app's protection mechanism, which would be fine if it wasn't called a hundred times per second during resize. I have removed the protection from that

Re: WifiGuard displays asterisks *** in addresses

As of version 2.0, WiFi Guard is a paid app. In the free demo version it shows a limited number of devices and the rest is displayed with asterisks. You can see that change in the changelog and it's stated on the application home page: QuoteLicence Commercial Unlimited duration trial with maximum of 5 devices displayed If you prefer to remain a freeware user, you can disable update notifi

Re: Where to enter the license key?

7 months ago, by Andrew in WiFi Guard Forum

Thank you for your purchase. There are two ways to enter a licence key in WiFi Guard. The first way is under the Help menu, like in most other apps: The second way is when WiFi Guard shows its notification dialog: Hope this helps. We are in Australia and July 4th isn't a holiday here, but as Australia is in a different time zone, some responses appear after a bit of a delay.

It's hard to say without seeing your settings, but per AOL's help pages: SMTP Outgoing Server Address: smtp.aol.com Set the port to 587 SMTP Username: YourUsername@aol.com (or @love.com, @games.com, etc.) SMTP Password: password you use to login to Mail So something like this should work. Use the Test button to verify your setup:

Re: Feature request: Visible columns selection

Thank you for the suggestion. I have added Mark All/None buttons that work exactly the same as those under Remote PowerShell, Remote SNMP and so on. There is no inversion, but it's consistent throughout the user interface. You can download the latest build here.

Re: How to setup the router monitoring

8 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Provided you have selected the external (WAN) interface to be monitored under the SNMP settings, yes all your devices are monitored. You can test it by downloading a file from one of the devices and see if NetWorx reflects that on its graph. Please note that the computer that runs NetWorx should be on 24/7 to accurately capture usage information. If you decide to purchase the program, you w

Re: MAC address database update

8 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

At the moment this behaviour is hard-coded. Once the file becomes more than 3 months old, the app starts prompting whether you want to update it. The easiest solution in this case is to set the database file's date to the current date, which will suppress the prompts for another 3 months. This can be done by using a third-party file manager to assign the current date to oui.txt or run in a

Re: How to setup the router monitoring

8 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

The blank drop-down box under SNMP / WAN interface suggests that SNMP isn't available. It may be because it's not supported by the router, firewall settings, or not enabled in the router's configuration. This leaves you with the UPnP option only. In that case tick UPnP, then select your router's name and WANCommonIFC1. Selecting UPnP as recommended above should generally work, but what was

Re: How to setup the router monitoring

8 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Did you have a chance to review the router monitoring help page? Basically NetWorx supports two different technologies called SNMP and UPnP. Many routers support at least one of these, some routers support both and few support neither. If you choose the SNMP option and there is a list of available interface, it means SNMP is working. Then you may have to try choosing different interfaces unt

Re: Volume hangs but HD Emulation works

8 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

It sounds like a deadlock took place somewhere in the kernel. When that happens, a regular program that interacts with a driver hangs on I/O in progress and can't be killed until the driver returns control. Hopefully it's a Microsoft's issue and they'll resolve it before the release.

Re: Volume hangs but HD Emulation works

8 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

Thank you for reporting this issue. Unfortunately, it's pretty common that things don't work correctly in a preview build. A number of sources around the Internet also reported that build 16226 has numerous bugs. Let's wait until it becomes an official update, then if the issue is still present, we'll investigate what's going on there.

You should check and remove all the registry entries mentioned in the article, not just the first one.

Re: How to delete the empty disk?

8 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

That's not really possible - if the software was completely removed, it wouldn't be able to leave an empty disk. You can check this article for how to find out whether all components of the software have been removed. Alternatively, it could be that another device (e.g. card reader or USB flash drive) has taken over the freed disk letter and is now displayed instead of the deleted RAM disk.

Re: Slow column resizing

Hmmm, could you perhaps try on a different computer or record a video of what it looks like? As far as I can tell the tree view control we're using is pretty fast - I personally never felt it was sluggish.

Re: Stars / asterisks in IP address and MAC address fields

The trial version only shows first 10 results and the rest will be asterisks. To remove this restriction you would need to purchase a licence, as reminded each time the app starts:
