Re: Feature suggestion: sub-menus in Applications

6 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

Thank you for the feedback. It's actually already possible and this way works with bookmarks as well. Simply specify a vertical bar to create groups of items. For example, try naming your bookmarks as Network A | Subnet 1, Network A | Subnet 2 or naming your applications as FTP clients | FileZilla, FTP clients | Total Commander and you will see sub-menus created.

Re: Windows is not creating Administrative Share for RAM disks

6 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

It's hard to say outright. Are the configured RAM disks identical on both of these machines? More importantly, what does net share print when launched from a command prompt on the problematic server? Also what error message are you getting when you try to access it?

Re: NetWorx shows about 25% higher data consumption - how to solve?

6 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

That depends on your settings, in particular on what adapters are selected for monitoring and whether the "Ignore local traffic within the LAN" option is enabled. If Ignore local traffic within the LAN is ticked, check per application reports under Usage Reports - Applications. It's quite possible that you will see a network filtering product like an antivirus shown in the list. In m

Feature added: favourite filters management

6 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

We have added a way to manage filters and add some to favourites, which will display them first and also prevent them from being pushed out and deleted over time. The latest build that includes this feature can be downloaded here. Open menu View - Quick Host Filter - Settings, and simply click the star to add or remove a filter from favourites:

Re: Feature suggestion: Filter buttons for quick filtering

6 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

Hmm, looks like it makes sense to allow users to manage their favourite filters - I will check what we can do and post an update here.

Re: Feature suggestion: Filter buttons for quick filtering

Perhaps the most recently used filters in the View - Quick Host Filter menu would help? It remembers the filters used recently and allows you to quickly reapply any of them.

Re: Harddisk NTFS junction to RAM disk performance

6 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

This performance issue with cross-drive NTFS junctions is only noticeable if you read and write a large set of small files. It's probably just how Microsoft implemented NTFS junctions. Having said that, if you want to keep user folders like My Documents, Videos, Desktop, etc in another location, it can be done by simply changing the path in the registry as per this article. No need to use NTFS

Re: How to find high definition sound settings in regedit

6 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

There is a bunch of on-line file compare services, as well as free apps like WinMerge. There is also a built-in file comparison command in Windows called fc and you can find out more by typing fc /? in the command prompt.

Re: How to find high definition sound settings in regedit

6 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

It's probably specific to your sound hardware and driver. To find out where a setting is in the registry, create a complete registry dump via regedit.exe - File - Export - All before changing the setting, and then another dump after the setting was changed. Then compare these registry dumps to see what's changed.

Re: Networx - twice the same statistics

Sorry I can't really tell what's going on from your description. If you send us your database files from both the computers (backed up through Usage Reports - Backup), I may be able to analyse them and advise further.

Re: Error mounting image on-boot codes 43 and 1223

7 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

It's really hard to tell what the problem might be from these error codes. Error 1223 means ERROR_CANCELLED (the operation was cancelled by the user), which doesn't make any sense. Error 43 indicates some kind of hardware issue Windows detected. Most likely it's simply a corrupted image file. Try creating a brand new image file, or depending on your usage scenario, try a volatile RAM disk with

Re: Synology router: download tracking issues

Try these alternative apps once download tracking stops: UPnP Gateway Traffic Monitor and UPnP Monitor. If neither works - the problem is in the router itself, and I am afraid there's nothing we can do about it.

Re: Configuring Port Mapper to do MAC to IP lookup from router

7 months ago, by Andrew in Switch Port Mapper Forum

Assuming you have added the router's SNMP details, the software should pick up MAC to IP address mappings from its cache. If you go to the device management and click Test Connection, does the app show information from both the switch and the router as shown below? That's just to make sure it's reachable and user credentials are valid:

Re: Cannot access the drive of image

7 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

I would suspect that copying from the system SSD to the same SSD got that drive's cache filled up with the data, which resulted in a quicker operation. I recommend to try copying from a RAM disk to the same RAM disk for comparison. You can also use the DiskMark app to compare performance in several I/O tests.

Re: Cannot access the drive of image

7 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

It's pretty strange, this error indicates that a component of Windows Explorer wasn't happy with the disk drive. It's likely to be due to some other installed software. As a workaround for this compatibility issue, try ticking Hard Disk Emulation (slower) and choose a different drive letter when mounting the image file. Please note that creating and mounting an image file is not the same as cr

Re: How to check which driver is installed: TDI or WFP?

Check the file properties of networx.sys in C:\Windows\System32\drivers. It should mention TDI or WFP in the file description.

Re: RAMdisk vs RAMcache

7 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

Yes, our RAM Disk is something that's called a software RAM disk. It allocates a block of RAM and treats as if the memory were a disk drive. In other words, it creates a super-fast disk residing in RAM, which is volatile in nature. Anything written to it completely disappears on shutdown (unless the user chooses otherwise), so it's usually used for temporary data like caches and temporary files.

Re: Multiple IP address show same MAC address

7 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

It's hard to say exactly, but generally it is related to how the gateway handles the ARP protocol. As you may know, the ARP protocol is used to resolve device's IP address to MAC address and it's sent to 255.255.255.255. We also use it to see if the device is online, which is commonly known as 'arping'. When you are connected to 192.168.0.x only, the software would request MAC address for eve

Re: Does RAM Disk run when no user is logged on?

7 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

It doesn't depend on the version. It depends on how you create the RAM disk. In the main menu you can choose Disk - Add or Disk - Add Boot Disk. The former will create a RAM disk available when a user is logged on, the latter will create a RAM disk available immediately on the system startup.

Re: Does a Single Business licence allow to scan the whole network?

8 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

Yes, you can scan as many PCs as you like. There is no restriction on the number of scanned devices. All licences are perpetual and valid indefinitely for the product version they were purchased for. In addition, free updates are available for one year from the date of the purchase. After that, updates are available at half-price for any additional year. This article describes it in more d

Re: Monitoring newbie questions

8 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Please see below: No, NetWorx is a regular app, not a service. It only runs when a user is logged in. When it does, it monitors all processes in the system, including services and those from other users logged at the same time. With multiple users using the computer at different times it will show a break down by user. However when more than one user is logged at the same time, all usage will

Re: Thread scan stuck: diagnostics and solutions

It could the same issue as OP's. In that case it happens deep in the WNetAddConnection2() system API call, which is used to authenticate custom user name and password in several types of scan. It's a fairly common issue, for example discussed here. Unfortunately there seems to be no solution for this problem. The recommended CancelSynchronousIo() call doesn't seem to cancel WNetAddConnection2(

Re: Missing the Application tab

Most likely you are using the portable version. This report is only available in the installed version, because monitoring of this data requires a network driver to be installed, which is not possible with the portable version. Please use the installer if you need this functionality.

Re: How to create RAMDisk to auto-load with folders every boot

8 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

The RAM Disk app uses two different concepts: A disk image file, or simply image, is a regular file containing the contents and structure of a RAM disk. These can be created and mounted to a drive letter to see and modify their contents (that's what you did). This functionality sits under the Image item in the main menu. A RAM disk, is an in-memory drive, which can be created blank or associat
