This problem seemed to have started with Win 10 too.

Hi I attached the requested db file via the form.

LAN freezes every 10 minutes exactly

7 years ago, by pjred in Bandwidth Manager Forum

Hi, I'm getting network freezes over LAN when transferring files or watching media from server running Bandwidth Manager. This happens at recurring intervals every 10 minutes exactly for a few seconds. Happening with latest version of BWM, but was also happening with last 2 versions as well. If I stop service and attach server to network like any other PC the problem goes away. My setup is W

Re: Service failed to start - Time out

Hi again tried latest version 3.1.7 (reduced rule-set and used free key), and it's having the exact same problem on start up. "The SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager Service service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." from event viewer. Had to extend start-up delay time to 10 minutes for it to

Yes license has expired that's why I'm still on 3.1.4. Just wondering if anything has changed with latest version that might have overcome that problem. As i said just started happening with Win 10 anniversary update.

Re: Service failed to start - Time out

Just tried setting service to manual start and created a scheduled task to start service 6 minutes after boot-up and that seemed to work. Tried 4 minutes first and no go so extended to 6. Think delayed start in services is 2 minutes

Service failed to start - Time out

Since latest Win10 anniversary update the service fails to start even on delayed start up. Windows event viewer says failed to start timed out. If I wait 5 minutes or so after start up I can usually manually start service. Using version 3.1.4 on 64 bit win10.

Re: Slow outgoing LAN traffic with bridged NICs

Thanks for the reply. All my LAN hosts are on one side of the bridge so I will leave it ticked. Funny how it's just started doing it recently because I've never had it ticked before. I'm suspecting the recent Win 10 major upgrade.

Slow outgoing LAN traffic with bridged NICs

8 years ago, by pjred in Bandwidth Manager Forum

Hi Using latest version on latest build Win 10 64 bit. Just noticed that my LAN traffic from server running BWM to any client is limited to about 16Mbps, whereas traffic to server is 80-90 Mbps. Running 2 gigabit NIC on server. Tried different NICs same. If I stop BWM service, then LAN traffic runs full speed both directions. Tried deleting all rules with BWM service running and problem sti

Just tried delayed start for BWM service in services and it seemed to work OK after reboot.

Just tested 3.0.6 (in Bridging mode) with win 8.1 64bit (not the 8.1 update) and all seems well until you restart the pc. After restart, BWM doesn't let any traffic through to internet. LAN seems to work because LAN pc's were getting DHCP and DNS requests from simple DNS. Checked bridging and it was still there. Restarting BWM service got it going again. Restarted a few times and exact

I had problems with an earlier version 3 of SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager and win 8 64bit with bridging. Think every time I rebooted I lost the bridge or something but it was unreliable so I went back to Win 7 64bit. Going to give 8.1 64bit with bridging and version 3.0.6 a go. I'll report back after I try.

Re: Captive Portal

I'm sure there would be different requests on this feature but a simple redirect to a web page (whether internal or external) with a counter that could be reset manually or at set times that directs people to an initial page (such as "payment due" or "accept terms"or whatever with a "click here to continue normal browsing". The reset counter would take them back to th

Captive Portal capabilities

Have you thought about adding Captive Portal capabilities to the software. I know there is the web redirect ability but it would be good to be able to setup a Captive page when first trying to access the internet, kinda like "your payment is due" then "click here to continue" type page.
