Re: Feature request: tray notifcations, tray icon colour change, email alerts and log records when a host goes offline/online

I have this one setup as a portable installation. Can you point me to the portable new version for testing? That all makes total sense regarding the "seeming" unreliableness -- I was trying to use it differently than how it is intended (eg, I had some servers and also some internet locations defined, so I'd not see an Offline event if only one server was rebooting). I totally respe

Thanks for working some of the above into v6.2! A few things: Bug: I have Connection Monitor (CM) configured to open on double-click of the tray icon. If CM is already open and I double-click the tray icon NetWorx crashes. Logging and notification in CM is a bit unreliable. It does not always seem to register an Offline event. I've had a few times where it showed a Status of "Request t

How to exclude Local Traffic, but not Traffic to VPN

My router is at: 192.168.0.1 My local network is: 192.168.0.2 up to .255 My remote network is: 10.1.11.0 up to .255 I'm on NetWorx 6.2 and in my IP Address Range Manager I don't have any 10.1.11.0 ranges, and I've tried changing the 192.168.0.0 to instead be 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.255 (thinking that maybe then it would count traffic sent to the router). I'd like to exclude my actual loca

Awesome! I'm glad to hear that you're finding my ideas useful, and that you're going to implement them!

Re: Graph issues with the router's long SNMP interval

I decided to install a second, portable instance of NetWorx, and then swapped their db's so that the portable version continues to monitor the Router and the installed version can then monitor just this computer (and the applications on it). This gives me real-time graphing for this computer, which is helpful for when I'm trying to troubleshoot any network stuff specific to this machine, but the p

Suggestion: same list of tray icon options for single and double-click

It would be nice/useful if the list of options/possible actions were the same for both single-click and double-click on the Tray Icon. Currently the list for double-click options is rather short, and also includes one item (Netstat) not available for single-click. Additionally, I'd recommend/prefer that all of the Tools menu items be added to both of the above lists (and any future Tools be add

Re: Recording/tracking network issues (e.g. jitter, latency, packet loss)

I totally understand and respect all that. One of the things I have really appreciated about NetWorx is that it is not bloated, so keep up the good work with that tight-focus! Thanks for those thoughts, experiences and suggestions -- I'll get rid of all the microwaves in the building (hah!). PRTG Network Monitor is a good suggestion -- I appreciate the free alternative! Thanks again!

Recording/tracking network issues (e.g. jitter, latency, packet loss)

5 years ago, by networkwalking in NetWorx Forum

I'm emboldened by the wonderfully positive response I received in another thread, so wanted to see if there's already functionality in NetWorx (or maybe a companion app), or whether functionality could be added to NetWorx, for trying to track and diagnose network issues like latency, packet loss and jitter? The reason for my request is that I have an ongoing, very difficult to diagnose, problem

I wholeheartedly agree -- it is ridiculously stupid. I loved your analogy by the way! I've actually emailed them to ask about this strange limitation. But thanks much for the interpolation instructions -- that is certainly more useful than what I've had. I'm assuming this is just going to affect the display of data, and not changing anything regarding totaling data for quotas, etc. correct?

Very, very cool! That is super-encouraging! And just to clarify regarding Item 4, because I wasn't terribly clear: I have scenarios where the VPN goes down, but not because of the WAN connection failing, but rather something to do with the VPN itself. Most of the time this is a momentary thing where the VPN is "refreshing" itself (I think). But there are certain conditions where I co

I've been using NetWorx for years and am a big fan! I have some computers I connect to via my VPN, and I currently use EMCO Ping Monitor to alert me when the VPN connection is down. If you added a few features to the NetWorx Connection Monitor I could get rid of the Ping Monitor software. I can add my remote computers to the Connection Monitor using their IP Address or Host Name. Here's what el

Graph issues with the router's long SNMP interval

5 years ago, by networkwalking in NetWorx Forum

I have a ZyXEL USG20-VPN Router, and with this and other newer models the SNMP interval is forced to 5 minutes (older devices had an interval of 1000ms). I have configured NetWorx to use SNMP v2, and I have left the poll interval at 1000ms (setting the interval to 300000ms, which is 5 minutes, doesn't seem to make a difference). I am on version 6.1.1. My graph data of course only shows a bar every
