NetWorx Desk Band not clear

May be a similar issue as raised here.

Networx 5.1.7, XP, and Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)

7 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

Andrew I've now upgraded to Windows 7 so I won't be able to progress this issue. And, as I've never used more than 25% of my monthly bandwidth allowance, I've decided I don't need to monitor as closely as Networx allows and so I've chosen not to install Networx. Nevertheless I continue to believe it to be a fine product and amazed that it continues to be free. Thanks for your help and guida

Networx 5.1.7, XP, and Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)

7 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

Thanks Andrew. When it crashed this time it took a memory dump from the BSOD clicking up from 1 through to 100 (presumably %age complete) . I have no idea where that gets filed or whether it's still around (Windows\MiniDump?). Just checked, I ran Ccleaner yesterday and that was set to tidy Memory Dumps - drat, I've now unticked that setting. As I'm retired I have (in theory ) a bit more tim

Networx 5.1.7, XP, and Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)

I know I posted this back in March, but it may be worth an update. Since reverting to 5.1.6 I've had no BSODs whatsoever. However... This morning I decided to upgrade to 5.1.8 seeing as that had a new driver. When I rebooted, for another reason, it hit the dreaded BSOD while starting Windows, around the time the Networx appears. It dumped and rebooted, and hit BSOD again. So Safe Mode, u

Sorry, the email bounced - attachment rejected. However I've now found Networx 5.1.6 on the Networx site.

I've emailed you a .zip of it. It may be available on the Networx site, but I'm not sure where.

Are you using version 5.1.7? If so suggest you see about reverting to 5.1.6.

Andrew Are these 'latest builds' based on Networx 5.1.7 or 5.1.6, i.e. with or without the new network driver ?

Usage Statistics show total since installation

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

The monthly report shows the usage for each month where the month starts at the day of the month you've set on the Settings/Advanced tab / Month starts on. My usage report, monthly tab, shows monthly totals for 02/07/2011-01/08/2011, next line is 02/06/2011-01/07/2011, and so on. I've set the 'month starts on' day to 2nd as that's when my ISP month starts. And the little graph at the bottom of th

Netstat display delay

Clicking Netstat on my XP Pro system the response is almost instantaneous, and then display of the details follows less than 1/2 second later. Wonder if it's different on other versions of Windows?

Stop monitoring while on holiday

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

I'm intending to take my netbook on holiday soon but there's no point in Networx accumulating usage statistics when using it away from home. I could stop it loading when Windows loads and re-enable on my return, but I'm wondering if there is any way of simply 'switching off' the monitoring for a period of time?

where is install doc listing changes?

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

The only BSOD problems I've had have been with version 5.1.7 which had a new network driver. Since reverting to 5.1.6 ten weeks or so ago I've had absolutely no BSOD problems. With 5.1.7 I was getting multiple BSODs a day. That's on one XP Pro system and one XP Home system.

Netwrox 5.1.5 under estimating usage

One thought. Are your measuring both downloads and uploads? Many ISPs (in the UK at least, don't know about elsewhere) count both towards your usage limit?

How to remove Deskband when installed to XP

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

Might be easiest to just reinstall Networx and take the No option, it'll only take a minute or so. I don't think it'll lose your settings or data but, just in case, you could backup the data and restore it if needed.

Richard - neat! I hadn't realised you could do that. Thanks.

I can't see one, not even in the Hidden Options (Ctrl-O from the Options dialog box).

Networx 5.1.7, XP, and Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

I have two PCs, a desktop running XP Pro, a netbook running XP Home. Since early February I've been getting BSODs on both PCs which said "Page fault in non-paged area". On reboot the report after sending the dump to Microsoft said it was a driver error. I tried all sorts of things to track it down, removing the latest monthly fixes from Microsoft, etc. all to no avail. I then realise

Backup not processing all users

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

I backed up the files on both desktop and netbook. Then reinstalled Windows on my desktop and, before connecting to the internet, installed a pre-downloaded copy of Networx and restored the data. Once it was connected to the router and it could see the netbook and vice-versa they all synchronised just fine. I guess it strictly wasn't necessary to backup the netbook Networx data but it did no h

Backup not processing all users

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

Good point, though its database must hold data for all users as it can report when only 1 PC is running. What I'm trying to do is preserve Networx data across a rebuild of my desktop PC. So, if I use Backup for the data on that PC relevant to that PC, will using Restore after the rebuild reinstate that data and in due course synchronise with the Netbook and thus preserve the historical data

Backup not processing all users

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

I have 2 Networx users: desktop PC and Netbook PC. When I do a backup the only data in the XML file is for the desktop PC, no sign of the netbook user data. Am I misunderstanding something or doing something wrong?

How can I add more users?

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

If you have a number of PCs attached to a router (wired or wireless) you can install Networx on each of the PCs, set the "Synchronise usage data..." on the Settings/Advanced tab, and "Ignore local traffic..." on the Settings/Main tab. Each instance of Networx will talk to the others and will each show the individual traffic for each of the PCs as well as the aggregate. A

ignor LAN traffic don't work (error 7)

It's on my XP Pro system in c:\windows\system32\drivers\... On my PC it's 38.976 bytes, and version 4.2.0.1420. Perhaps that helps.

How to Set On-Peak and off-Peak Time?

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

If you right click on the Networx icon in the System Tray, select Settings then the Advanced tab, I found you can click the individual hourly squares to set that period to On-peak, Off-peak, or Unmetered. I thought this quite neat as it gives the option of different hours in, for example, weekdays and weekend days.

Upgrade to V.5.4: lost Ignore LAN traffic setting

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

Upgraded to version 5.1.4 on my desktop PC a day or so ago. Earlier today I powered up my netbook (first time for a few days) and upgraded that to 5.1.4. It's only in the last few minutes I've found that the Ignore Local LAN traffic option was no longer ticked on both PCs. Although I can't be certain it's as if the upgrade has 'lost' that setting. A little unfortunate as I transferred >1

Installation Suggestion

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

I've already got a short cut to Networx, in a sub-folder under Programs. I don't need or want another short cut whether in my chosen folder or the Programs one, Browsing to the appropriate folder seems unnecessary. As an example, CCleaner (and others from that stable) have an install dialog the link no longer exists In this particular case I uncheck all but the last option. But it does give

Installation Suggestion

A small point but... When I install a new version of Networx it puts it's Start Menu entry right at the top level. Perhaps like others I organise my Start Menu items and folders to suit my way of working and don't have Networx at the top level. Would it be possible for there to be a selectable option at install time to inhibit creation of this item?

Turning off auto formatting of export

8 years ago, by TonyP in NetWorx Forum

Have a look at the attached Excel spreadsheet. It contains a few lines of Networx exported data with a couple of extra columns which separate out the Average Download Value and its units into separate columns with a couple of simple Excel formulae. Does this achieve what you want to do? (I've zip'd the Excel as the forum doesn't allow XLS files to be uploaded.)
