Re: Feature request: advanced monthly quota and daily-weekly-monthly usage

Thank you, we will consider adding this in the next version.
Re: Speed Meter reading is much lower than online speed test
10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum
Two reasons most likely: By default NetWorx reports average speeds, while most on-line tools report maximum speeds. By default NetWorx uses smaller test sizes which may show inaccurate results on fast connections. By clicking the Settings button (with the Gear), you can increase the size of the transferred data and the type of speeds reported. Alternatively, you can download the latest NetW
Re: Remount RAMdisk via command line
10 years ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk & RAM File System Forum
There is no switch for that. You can send /unmount:R and then in a few seconds /mount:R, perhaps through a batch file. A delay can be made with something like TIMEOUT /T 10.
Re: Is the MAC address included as part of the usage logging?
10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum
It's not logged. It is only used to distinguish between which networks should be monitored and which shouldn't. You can see that under the Networks button under Monitored Interfaces.
Re: Add setting to prevent pop up
10 years ago, by Andrew in WiFi Guard Forum
That's the whole point of the program to notify the user immediately after a new device was discovered. You can switch to manual scan and run it whenever you want instead.

I don't think the Prefetcher will ever pick up the image file. As far as I know it only works for executable files and their dependencies like DLLs. On the other hand, there wouldn't be much benefit even if it worked. Just defrag your HDD once to make sure the image file is in a large continuous block.
Re: Graph only shows local machine traffic
10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum
This is by design, only accumulated usage records are synced and shown in the At a Glance report. The Graphs are not synced.
Re: Netscan detected by AntiVirus
10 years ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum
I know the Network Scanner was once unfortunately included into malware called Anunak (see page 3). Who knows, may be that's why it is flagged as a PUP now.
Re: Feature request: Display config file name
10 years ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum
It's a bug, the name shown in the title bar should have been updated when saving to a new file. Please download the update.
Re: Netscan detected by AntiVirus - False positive
10 years ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum
Perhaps your antivirus is outdated? At the moment, only CMC reports a false positive "virus" detection in VirusTotal. CMC antivirus is produced by some obscure Vietnamese company who don't care and don't respond despite our numerous attempts to report this false positive. We also know from colleagues that CMC regularly flags other simple and harmless applications that don't have any n

Well I guess that could be anything, from a bug in the router's firmware to the inaccessibility of their download server. I don't think they will be able to answer your question.
Re: Initial config problem: don't see any traffic
10 years ago, by Andrew in Bandwidth Manager Forum
The BM software consists of two components: a Bandwidth Control Service that processes network traffic and enforces bandwidth restrictions, and a Management Console used for configuration and monitoring. When you launch the Management Console it asks you to enter the name of the host where the Bandwidth Control Service is running and a password. By default, the host name is localhost and the passw

Don't worry about the version number. I have just pulled the problematic revision from SVN and built it as the latest version, so the version number suggests it's the latest one, though it's not. It's the revision that didn't work correctly with your router.

I am sorry that you did not welcome the change, however we don't currently plan to bring the old speed meter back. NetWorx has millions of users and every time we make a change, there is someone who doesn't like it. The changes were prompted but the user feedback and the frequency of support questions relating to the old speed meter. At the same time we can't keep all the old and new features
Re: Losing internet connection after uninstall
10 years ago, by Andrew in Bandwidth Manager Forum
This shouldn't normally happen as BM correctly installs and removes its traffic filtering driver. It never happens on a clean system installation. However, there's a slim chance of a problem if you have other products that install similar drivers, e.g. a firewall or antivirus software. In this case, the product with the similar driver needs to be reinstalled after you uninstall BM. Though it i
Re: Blocking apps by network interface
10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum
It does indeed sound more like firewall functionality. We would like to keep NetWorx a simple bandwidth monitoring utility, so I am afraid we would rather not implement this feature. By the way Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 employ this automatically and don't download updates over a metered connection, see this article for details.
Re: Mounting RAMDisk to a folder
10 years ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk & RAM File System Forum
An alternative would be to create a regular RAM Disk assigned to a drive letter. Then create a symbolic link from your folder to the RAM Disk.
Re: Feature request: Display related bookmark
10 years ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum
Sorry I think that would be unnecessary complication that could leave users puzzled as to what the checkmarks are for. It looks good the way it is now, at least shorter than before.
Re: Session traffic does not reset on reconnecting to the Internet
10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum
In the NetWorx context a session means the time from the moment NetWorx was started. It does not track your connects and disconnects unless you're using dial-up, in which case the separate sessions are recorded here:
Re: Access violation error when launching NetWorx
10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum
By the way, I have finally figured why it was crashing. The Celeron 1200MHz CPU was produced somewhere in the early 2000s, it obviously doesn't support any modern CPU instructions like SSE which are used in our SQLite builds. Simply speaking, the computer is too old

No worries, here's the build that did not have the workaround. If it works continuously, then the firmware was fixed.
Re: Feature request: Display config file name
10 years ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum
Added in latest build. Since the statusbar is already full, it's shown in the window title bar and the taskbar button.
Re: Feature request: Display related bookmark
10 years ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum
I think it's easier to just use the last part of the name, after the final "|" in this case. I have just updated the app so it uses the last part of a bookmark's name instead.
Re: Access violation error when launching NetWorx

NetWorx has a setting that allows you to choose what summary will be shown on the graph:

Of course there is. Just try clicking the squares in the hour matrix in the advanced settings:
Re: Feature request: Display related bookmark

Sounds like a great idea and it's pretty easy to add too. I went ahead and added it to the latest build.
Re: Why is "Ignore traffic within LAN" disabled?
10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum
Then perhaps it's the antivirus or something else went wrong. I can only suggest the workarounds listed here.
Re: Why is "Ignore traffic within LAN" disabled?
10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum
This feature requires a network driver that comes with the installation package. It is not available in the portable edition.
Re: Access violation error when launching NetWorx
10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum
Unfortunately it's unclear why this error occurs. NetWorx relies on the SQLite database engine located in sqlite.dll and this is where the the error takes place. I'd assume it's something with the OS as we haven't seen any bug report like this in years. I recommend to try the official SQLite build to see if it helps, for which: Go to the download page and download 32-bit DLL (x86) for SQLite
Re: Access violation error when launching NetWorx

I can't tell from this data, but it's likely to be an issue with some other product like antivirus. Please try this debug build and should the error occur again, it would generate a bug report in the same folder. Just post it here.
