Remote SNMP query in hex format   07 November 2013, 23:29

Hi Andrew, here is my definition for a new snmp query to look out for serial numbers.

Item name: Serial Name

MIB OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.9.4.2.1.1.3.3.0

It worked, but i notice that the result is in hex format, so I'm asking if is possible to convert those results inside netscan???

Thanks Again!!!!!

I am not sure if is hex, sorry, but this is the number with the expected result converted in Frhed Hex Editor:

Netscan result: 01 15 43 4E 47 53 34 30 36 38 38 33 (Right now this is what i got)

Expected result after conversion: CNGS406883 (Obtained from third party converter and confirmed on the equipment)

This would be the serial number of a HP LaserJet Printer.

Thanks!!!!

It's displayed as a hex string because the first two octets are something that does not belong to the number.

01 15 - who knows what this is, but these are unprintable characters.

43 4E - CN

47 53 - GS

and so on (see the standard ASCII table).

So, the question is if there is any reference explaining what the first 2 bytes are or a tool that decodes them?

http://ascii.cl/es/codigos-de-control.htm

01 = Start of Heading - inicio de cabecera

15 = Shift In - iniciar modo mayúsculas

We are looking foward to achive a conversion from hex to ascii...
