Scanning for installed applications

Scanning for installed applications   19 November 2015, 02:38

First, congrats on making some great products!
I just started using network scanner and see that I can scan for installed applications on remote PC's. For some reason, the applications do not show up for some PC's that I'm scanning and I can't figure out what the problem is. Every client here is using McAfee firewall, do you think there is something blocking the scan on some PC's and not others? Any ideas, thoughts, reflections are welcome.

Generally the scanner pulls a list of installed applications from the registry at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.

It does so using two ways, whichever works:
  1. Connecting to the remote registry directly. You can test this by launching the following command at a command prompt
    reg query \\COMPUTERNAME\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
  2. Connecting to the remote registry using WMI. You can test if WMI works by trying to connect to those computers with wbemtest.
