What is a common share?   10 January 2020, 15:04

I see that shares are categorized into different types:
  • Common share
  • Administrative share
  • Write accessible share
  • Restricted share
  • Shared printer
Can you give a description for each share type and how they differ from each other?

A common share is a shared folder that is not one of the following types:
  • Administrative share is a special hidden folder (like C$, D$, admin$), automatically created by Windows and used in network administration.
  • Write accessible share is a folder that the current user can write into.
  • Restricted share is a folder that the current user cannot access.
  • Shared printer is a printer shared on the network.
