How to move multiple Chrome profiles to RAM disk   07 May 2020, 00:45

I'm interested in using your RAMDisk, but first I need to figure out how to move all of my Chrome profiles to the RAMDisk. Your tool looks like it only moves over the default Profile:
C:\Users\Ricardo\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache

I have a bunch of user Profiles and I use them simultaneously:
D:\Users\Ricardo\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Profile 1
D:\Users\Ricardo\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Profile 4
D:\Users\Ricardo\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Profile 6
...

Are you creating Symbolic links or Hardlinks? Which do you recommend? Also what type of folder structure should I place on the Ram disk? Does each profile need a separate folder?

Thanks,
Ricardo

We are using symbolic links, but that's not a great solution for multiple profiles (it would require multiple symbolic links).

Instead just change your Chrome shortcut (i.e. in the Taskbar or Desktop or Start Menu) to launch chrome with the --disk-cache-dir command line parameter.

Something like this, if R: is your RAM Disk:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disk-cache-dir=R:\Cache
How could I add this parameter to my Start menu or favorite's icon?

  1. Right-click on the Start menu item or the icon,
  2. Choose Properties,
  3. Open the Shortcut tab,
  4. Copy the line of code from the above example into the Target field, making sure to use the correct path to chrome.exe (wherever it is installed in your system) and the correct RAM Disk letter (the one you chose for your RAM disk).
