TLS/SSL SMTP support in Bandwidth Manager's email settings

Started by Adam

Hi there,

I was attempting to get email notifications working in BM so quota emails can be sent to users.

We use Gmail for our email service and as you may know Gmail enforces authentication and encryption when connecting to their SMTP server as follows:
Gmail SMTP port (TLS): 587
Gmail SMTP port (SSL): 465

From what I can see, there is no provision in BM to support TLS/SSL for SMTP email accounts.

Would it be possible for such a feature be added into BM so Gmail / Outlook.com email accounts can be used to send notifications from BM? Even my own personal ISP email now requires TLS for outgoing email.

Thanks,
Adam.

Hi Adam,
It has been added in the new build. It looks fairly stable to be used in production if you decide to install it. You will also need to install OpenSSL.
Excellent! I will give the new build a try.
