Working for "All Connections" but not individual option   22 January 2014, 20:03

Hi,

Just sharing that for my setup I'm able to monitor bandwidth when using "All Connections" however I can't seem to specify the Bluetooth tethering to my Blackberry (Q10) as a connection - if I select anything other than "All Connections" I get no data.

I get quite a few network connections available:

When selection Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) it correctly identifies IP and MAC but still no usage data:

Finally here's an ipconfig dump; happy to provide any more info if it helps debug.

One of these has to work. The only thing the All Connections choice does it summing up data from all connections in the list.

Haha that's what I thought smile
Here's a further test with graph y axis set to 2048 bytes and a constant music stream in the background and resetting the graph after every apply (NOTE: It looks like the Blackberry interface might somehow be registering data used by the blackberry other than the tether connection? Can't explain the random small spikes on that settings):

(Forgive the copy n' paste into Word - quick and dirty splicing of screenshots)

It's illogical but I can't seem to get any data on anything other than "All Connections"

That's quite strange indeed. So when you choose All Connections, does it match the received and sent data from your Blackberry?

Good call - I actually hadn't even realised that "Received" wasn't being logged (even on "All Connections"wink - just ran a test now - reset tethering connection and started a new networx db. Results after a few minutes:

All yours if you need more info - I'm afraid I can't think of what next to look into.

Update: Here's a surprise - I plugged it in via USB and did a device backup and all of a sudden I saw loads of received data!

So somehow data being received via USB counts as Received; whilst outgoing internet traffic counts as Outgoing.

Final test: copying file to blackberry: counts as data uploaded.

These sort of make sense - one way to avoid this would be changing from "All Connections"... of course that isn't currently possible smile
