Introduction
SoftPerfect Ping Monitor is a free desktop application that continuously monitors network hosts via ICMP ping. It tracks latency, packet loss and jitter in real time and presents the results in three flexible view modes: a sortable table with sparklines, a visual tile grid, and a hop-by-hop route trace.
Configurable thresholds automatically classify each host’s status as good, degraded or critical, while desktop notifications and optional sound alerts keep you informed of any changes. All data is stored in a local SQLite database, and no external services or subscriptions are required.
Key features
- Real-time monitoring — Continuous ICMP ping with configurable intervals, latency/loss/jitter tracking, and colour-coded status indicators.
- Three view modes — Table view with sortable columns and sparklines, tile view with three size options, and route trace with hop-by-hop analysis.
- Detailed graphs — Interactive latency charts with five time ranges (5 min to 7 days), plus 24-hour quality heat strips.
- Customisable thresholds — Per-host or global latency thresholds (good/degraded/critical) with automatic status classification.
- Desktop alerts — Notifications and optional sound alerts when hosts go offline, degrade, or recover.
- Colour schemes — Seven built-in graph colour themes with full customisation, plus light/dark mode support.
- Cross-platform — Available for Windows (32/64-bit, ARM64), macOS, and Linux.
Common use cases
- Monitoring routers, switches, servers and other infrastructure devices
