Saving scan results to the cvs, txt, etc 05 April 2013, 04:06 |
Does netscan have something like the copy function but with multiple choices and the alternative of saving those results to the cvs, txt, etc... like the save results options feature but with the option to select the desire columns or fields. If not do you think can be implemented??? Thanks again for everything!!!!!

Not sure if you really need a copy or selective save feature, but selective saving is there already
To prevent some columns from being saved, you can hide them. See View - Visible Columns. The columns that are not visible, are not saved.
To prevent some rows from being saved, you can use the filter to hide them. Hidden rows are not saved.
But I guess you are looking for something more like "Save selection as ...", right?

Hi, "save as" would be a nice feature too. Also imagine an application that deploy install packages taking a list of host in the form of txt, cvs... If you want to use it on netscan first you scan the network then you select the desire hosts and copy just its ips, you would have to open a third party editor program like excel to paste results, save the worksheet for later use then call for the deployments. instead you would prefer just to copy ips or more fields not just to clipboard but with the alternative to a customize csv or txt file. You can have the option on preference to tell netscan when copy goto clipboard or to a file or both and where can be its location, name, and type. I know, right now, that this can be achieve with netscan as you said with filters, profiles, and hidden columns but we're talking here of speed and bypassing some extra steps. I know maybe is not needed, as always would be your decision. Anyway remember that we really appreciate your efforts. And we thanks you for netscan, it really rocks!!!!!! Bye.

There is another mechanism you can use, but you will need to download the latest build for it.
Initially it was designed for making batch files to simplify administrative tasks. You can use it this way or to generate a list of rows and columns in whatever combination you need.
Select the rows you'd like to include, choose Actions - Create Batch File from the main menu and type in the column name(s) you want. As in example below, I have selected two devices, and retrieved two columns from the view. From there you can copy or save it.
