Error on start: Missing or invalid root node in XML file   24 September 2015, 16:57

Hello,

On my Win 7 Pro x64 , when starting either 32 or 64 bit NetScan (v.6.0.8 but it happened with older versions too), I get small pop-up window with message " Missing or invalid root node in XML file". After clicking OK, I get Netscan window with odd looks: upper action toolbar with small Icons appear OK, but lower toolbar with bigger icons has only Play (Start Scanning) and Pause button, and both of them are aligned to the right ?!?

But, also jumps out small pop-up window with message:

Access violation at address 00000000009D2E76 in module "netscan.exe".
Read of address 000000000000000010.

and after clicking OK I can from menu set IP range but after every action I get similar error window, and "Start Scanning" doesn't work... so I can only kill process from Task Manager (can't stop program with X or - File - Exit)

What can be done?

Your Network Scanner's configuration file is damaged.

Please close the app, delete netscan.xml either from the My Documents folder or from the Network Scanner's folder and start it again.

Hello,

I have the same problem, after deleting the file and rescanning I'll get the same message. An XML-validation says that the file-structure ist correct.

Sorry,

found the problem: disabling panda-antivirus solved the issue.
