What are the required rights to check the logged on users?
I am evaluating the network scanner, I cannot seem to get the logged on users information.

Most likely you would need to be a domain admin to look up logged on users.
Our Network Scanner uses three different methods, whichever succeeds:
If all that fails, you can try the predefined script called "User logon time" as shown below. It is available under Remote Scripting:

- NetBIOS request and response analysis
- WMI query "SELECT UserName FROM Win32_ComputerSystem"
