Device Type column is blank in scan results

Device Type column is blank in scan results   10 February 2025, 16:10

I have SoftPerfect Network Scanner version 8.2.3. Upon performing a scan, the "Device Type" information is not being populated. Is there an optional setting I need to enable? I can get other information, like IP address, MAC address, and even OS, and NIC Vendor, but the Device Type column is blank.

The Device Type feature relies on device MAC addresses and requires an active Internet connection. The Network Scanner software sends MAC addresses to an external service that performs device classification. If this column is not being populated, please ensure that:
  • Your computer is connected to the Internet during the scan.
  • MAC address detection is enabled in the Options menu.
  • No firewall or network security settings are blocking the requests.
