Best setup for Win 7 64bit on SSD

Best setup for Win 7 64bit on SSD 22 November 2014, 23:59

Hi,

Can someone find a bit of time to coach me on what would be best setup for a laptop with Windows 7 64bit, 120G and 8G of RAM?

It depends on how you are using the system, but it makes sense to allocate around 2 GB for a RAM disk and move Windows temporary folders and browser caches to it. This could provide better performance and spare the SSD from unneeded writing that would shorten its life.

I don't do games (well, if you consider FreeCell a game), basically browser and text documents. Should I setup this 2G on a NTFS partition with RAM disk in my case?

Yes, a 2 GB NTGS RAM drive with Windows temporary folders redirected to it as well as the browser caches should be good.
