How to clear old icons from the notification area 30 January 2025, 11:21

There are many icons from old software versions in my notification area (tray) icon list. How can I clear them?

The simplest way to reset the notification area icon cache is to use this batch file. It automatically deletes the necessary registry entries and restarts the Windows shell for you.

After running the batch file, your notification area icon list will be reset, and the icons should display correctly. Please note that resetting the icon cache will also remove all settings you set for your icons.
