How to make sense of Port IDs   22 December 2020, 09:57

Hi there,

I recently scanned Cisco SG300-20 switches. As the part number suggests, they are only 20 port switches. The port IDs were not 1-20, but 100000 on the Uplink ports (looking at the LLDP info). The remainder of the ports were 49 to 68. It makes no sense to me, especially when trying to solve errors on certain ports.
Any assistance would be appreciated!

Kind regards,

PortID is the hardware index number assigned to the interface on the switch. They don't always correlate with the physical port number, but there's usually an offset of some sort.

I notice you don't have Port Name enabled, which would show the physical port number.

Sometimes you can find a solution faster if you try the forum search, have a look at the knowledge base, or check the software user manual to see if your question has already been answered.
