Handling of 500Mbps - 1Gbps connections   24 November 2023, 02:53

Hello all,
I love SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager and have been using it for over 15 years. But I now have needs for something able to handle throughput of 500Mbps - 1Gbps connections. SoftPerfect seems to have a limit of 300Mbps last I checked. Have we made any advances and how can I access it or can someone point me in the direction of a software which offers quotas etc. like SoftPerfect which can handle speeds of 500Mbps - 1Gbps throughput or pipelines?

Theoretically the latest version (3.2.11) of our Bandwidth Manager should be able to handle up to 1 Gbps, depending on the number of rules and streams you defined within the software.

If it does not, you may have to consider an appliance, i.e. a specialised network device for bandwidth management. There are several options available on the market that are capable of handling 1 Gbps and up to 10 Gbps. Here are some software solutions and appliances that can handle such high throughputs:
  • Packet Controller: This is an ISP bandwidth management tool that offers bandwidth shaping, limiting, and controlling capabilities for throttling and managing bandwidth in universities and ISPs.
  • NetEqualizer: NetEqualizer appliances are bandwidth shaping appliances designed for voice and data networks, available in configurations from 20 Mbps up to 10 Gbps.
  • Peplink Balance 380: This is a router with 1 Gbps throughput and support for up to 500 users, designed to protect business continuity and provide high-capacity bandwidth management.
These options provide bandwidth management and control capabilities at speeds up to 1 Gbps and over, making them suitable for high-speed network environments.
