Deployment of NetWorx and its initial configuration   11 January 2018, 09:35

I am looking to use SCCM to push NetWorx across to several computers for an automated installation. Does NetWorx have the ability to use either a configuration file or switches that can be passed to the installation process that can specify such things as a password and to standardize the configuration across several devices?

Yes, it can be easily done by using a couple of command line switches and placing the default NetWorx database into the correct location.

First step is to create a default configuration:
  1. Download the portable build of NetWorx and unpack it into a folder.
  2. Launch it and perform its initial configuration: enter your licence key, change any necessary settings, and set a password if desired.
  3. Quit the running portable instance and all the settings and licence will be saved to NetWorx.DB next to the executable file.

Second step is to deploy NetWorx and the configuration created above:
  1. On a target machine, launch the NetWorx installer with /SILENT (progress shown) or /VERYSILENT (nothing shown) switch.
  2. Once the installation is completed, copy NetWorx.DB created above to %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\SoftPerfect\NetWorx.
  3. Upon next reboot NetWorx will start with the supplied configuration, or you can start it manually.

Sometimes you can get the answer faster if you try the forum search and/or have a look at the software user manual to see if your question has already been answered.
